Covid Guidelines & FAQ’s – Updated 28 November 2020

Important Information - Please Read

We have worked hard to put extra safety measures in place and have implemented several new precautions, following government advice, so that we can provide a safe and enjoyable visit for everyone.

These measures currently include the following, however, please note that these may change as government guidance is updated:

  • Limiting the number of visitors per day to ensure visitors and staff can safely keep to the government social distancing requirements.
  • All visitors (including our Members) must pre-book tickets in advance online so we can manage numbers safely. You will not be able to purchase tickets from the Entrance.  Please note, we may also temperature check all visitors on arrival.  Click Here to Book Now!
  • When booking online, visitors and Members will be required to choose an arrival timeslot. Arrival timeslots are in place so that we can manage the number of people that arrive throughout the day, and to control the number of people at Adventure Valley.  Once you have entered you are welcome to stay all day.
  • To help reduce the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19), we are legally required to record contact details of all guests visiting us. The easiest and quickest way of doing this is by downloading the NHS COVID-19 app. Once downloaded you will no longer need to fill in forms each time you visit us – saving you time! Simply open the app and use your smartphone camera to scan the QR code on our posters. You will need to do this each time you visit. You can find more information by visiting covid19.nhs.uk
  • In our toilet facilities, we ask our visitors to follow social distancing, and if cubicles are engaged please queue outside. We ask visitors to remember to wash hands before and after using our toilet facilities. If you need to pass another person whilst entering or exiting, in line with government guidance, we ask that you turn your back to them as you walk past. A member of our team will regularly check on toilet facilities, ensuring they are clean and soap dispensers are full.
  • We have placed extra Hand-sanitiser/handwash stations at regular stops around the site and our team will be operating an increased cleaning schedule.
  • Some areas of Adventure Valley will have one-way routes through to assist with visitor flow and to ensure social distancing.
  • We have introduced protective screens at contact points including in Café Italia and the Gift Shop. We encourage all visitors to pay using a card or mobile device (eg Apple Pay) rather than cash.  However, cash is required for the  coin- operated rides (quads and electric cars) and the Ice-Cream Van.

If you are not feeling well with either one or more of the symptoms of Covid-19, please do not visit Adventure Valley, stay at home and follow government and NHS 111 advice.

Finally, we ask that we all work together to follow social distancing around Adventure Valley, and we politely remind our visitors to keep apart from visitors from other households.

We are delighted to announce that, after the announcement of County Durham initially being placed in Tier 3 we are able to go ahead with our Winter Wonderland experience on all dates as planned and also shall be open on selected dates throughout December.

Working closely with Durham County Council, we have reviewed the experience to ensure we adhere to all safety and social distancing guidelines.  This has included making some minor location changes for some of the activities, however apart from this, we are pleased to say we are all set and approved to go ahead with the event.

Important – Due to restrictions and guidelines, please note:

  • All those aged over 11 years old (unless exempt) must wear a face-covering when in indoor areas at Adventure Valley.
  • We cannot accept bookings of more than 6 people. However, we do appreciate that some households are larger or operate within a support bubble.  If this applies to you, please email us at so we may assist.
  • Visitors must respect the social distancing guidelines whilst at Adventure Valley.
  • The Indoor Play Town, Wild West Play Barn and Creature Corner will remain closed until further notice.
  • Café Italia will remain open for takeaway only.

Will I be able to just turn up on the day if I haven’t booked a ticket?

No. Admission is restricted to those who have booked online tickets only. All visitors including members MUST pre-book an arrival timeslot before they arrive at Adventure Valley, in order to ensure we can manage the flow and the amount of people on site.

Will I be able to arrive at Adventure Valley outside of my allocated arrival time?

Allocated arrival times are in place so that we can ensure visitors are more evenly spread out around Adventure Valley, to avoid any congestion and ensure maximum protection for our visitors and staff. Therefore, we will ask that you stick to your allocated arrival time. If the time you wish to come is not available, please look to book for another day. Entrance will not be permitted for any visitor, including Members if they haven’t booked an arrival timeslot.  Once you have arrived you can stay all day.

I have a Complimentary Ticket – do I still need to pre-book?

Yes.  Please contact our team on info@adventurevalley.co.uk to arrange your booking. All tickets require pre-booking in order to be allocated an entrance timeslot and are included within our restricted visitor numbers. Please wait for confirmation from our team before you plan on visiting Adventure Valley.

How long can I stay at Adventure Valley?

You are welcome to stay all day from the time of your allocated arrival timeslot.

If I or a member of my household have Covid-19 symptoms on the day that I have booked to visit what should I do?

It is really important that you please stay home and DO NOT visit us. If you already have booked your online tickets, please email us at info@adventurevalley.co.uk and we will come back to you about moving your booking, subject to availability.

What about food and drink and picnics?

Will there be food & drinks available to purchase on site?

Café Italia will be open with restricted entry and a socially distanced queuing system and sit-down or take-away option.

Can I bring a picnic?

Yes of course. We have several Indoor and Outdoor areas around Adventure Valley in which to enjoy a picnic.  We politely ask that all visitors dispose of their rubbish in the bins provided to help our team keep the site clean and tidy throughout the day.
