Animal Care Assistant

Adventure Valley, a successful Family owned Farm attraction on the outskirts of Durham City offers a full day of fun and adventure for the whole family to enjoy. From indoor and outdoor play, rides, entertainment shows and of course animal attractions and activities, there is lots to keep you entertained.

We are looking for keen individuals that have a wealth of knowledge and experience and an all round passion for a wide range of animals. An eye for details and thorough approach to your work is key. Our animal collection ranges from small insect, reptiles, small aviary birds, poultry, rabbits and Guinea pigs through to larger agricultural stock including sheep, goats pigs, alpacas, llamas and even deer. Successful applicants will be responsible for all aspects of the care of these animals including but in no way limited to their daily feeding and cleaning, medication, general housekeeping and enclosure maintenance through to ensuring the highest levels of animal welfare.

As a public attraction you will also be regularly interacting with our visitors of all ages when carrying out meet and greet sessions or presenting animal shows so public speaking/performing experience would be an advantage.

Please be aware that this role does involve manual handling and working with large animals.

Children’s Party Host

Adventure Valley, a busy Farm Park attraction on the outskirts of Durham city is seeking lively, bubbly and outgoing individuals to join our Children’s entertainment team. Successful applicants will host children’s birthday parties during weekends, school holidays and special events.

Applicants must be extrovert, friendly and fun with strong organisational skills and time keeping abilities. High standards of customer service are a must. You will be hosting groups of up to 25 children at a time through a variety of different activities. As a farm park, animals play a very key element to our business so you must be comfortable interacting with animals large and small, including reptiles (qualified animal employees will assist).
They may also need to pass a DBS check.

Catering Manager

Adventure Valley is the North Easts biggest family adventure park. With over 50 attractions, activities and shows and three huge indoor play zones, whatever the weather Adventure Valley has it covered. Central to the operation is Café Italia and the Round Table Café which are the two catering outlets providing quality service to very high volumes of visitors across Adventure Valley. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as Catering Manager, responsible for delivering high standards and service across both of our busy outlets. Business development plans for Adventure Valley also suggest that the catering offer will expand over the coming months and years.

The successful candidate will understand how to efficiently run high volume, seasonal businesses to the highest standards, whilst operating within budget and to stretching targets. They will be commercially astute and will understand the complexities of the visitor attraction market.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

•Service standards across all outlets, ensuring the highest level of customer service and food quality

•Training and development of the food and beverage teams including front of house staff.

•Compliance with food hygiene standards, health and safety and all aspects of good kitchen management practice

•Managing budgets; stock and operating expenses together with product ordering and stock taking

•Contributing towards the marketing of the outlets, developing key messages and seasonal campaigns

•Motivating teams to exceed the visitor expectation on every occasion, ensuring repeat custom and commercial success

•Acting as Duty Manager in the absence of the Operations and Park Manager.

Essential skills/experience include:

•Food Hygiene level 3 qualification or equivalent

•Proficient in IT systems, including EPOS and Excel

•Experience of a managerial position within the Food and Beverage sector

The role is full time, 5 days in 7 including weekends and bank holidays. The role is predominantly day time hours. Our trading hours are 10am until 5pm (4pm in winter) and a typical shift would be 9am until 5pm. Only applications with a Cover Letter and CV will be considered. Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Catering Van Supervisor

We are looking for an enthusiastic customer-facing Catering Van Supervisor for our busy outdoor Round Table Cafe.

The role involves cooking and serving a range of hot fast-food options and drinks, and taking customer payments. You’ll be responsible for organising everything for the day-to-day service and delivering a friendly and first class customer experience.  You’ll need to be physically fit and able to work independently, and capable of supervising catering staff who will assist at busy times.    

The catering van operates at peak times, so working days are mainly weekends, bank holidays and over the spring and summer school holidays, usually from 9am to 4pm.

To be successful in this role you must be driven and motivated to succeed in a fast-paced event environment, along with a flexible attitude to help in various sections when needed, including the main Cafe Italia which is open all year round. 

We’re looking for someone who is self-motivated, energetic, and above all passionate about being part of a unique and growing company. A catering background with some till experience is desirable and experience in a similar role would be an advantage.

Job Type: Seasonal until September 19, with an immediate start.

Café Assistant

Join the Adventure Valley team in Brasside, Durham. We’re the biggest family adventure park in the North East and our Café Italia is right at the heart of it.

We are searching for enthusiastic, bubbly and outgoing individuals with an eye for detail and great customer service skills to start in the café immediately.

The hours will be a mixture of weekends, bank holidays and school holidays so FLEXIBILITY & RELIABILITY is vitality important.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ensure the presentation of the café is second to none
  • That you are prepared and ready for the busy service ahead
  • You will create delicious hot drinks for customers on our coffee machines
  • You will take orders on the till and be smiley and courteous even under pressure
  • You will serve the food to the customers and ensure the table is cleared promptly upon their departure

Qualifications and Skills

Previous experience using a till would be an advantage but not a requirement.

Retail Supervisor

Adventure Valley is a family attraction that aims to provide its visitors with a safe, enjoyable and exciting experience, resulting in the highest level of customer satisfaction. Your role is to oversee your department and operate as part of the team in delivering the customer experience.

General Duties:
• To accurately and efficiently process customers transaction at admissions

• To accurately and efficiently process customers enquiries and bookings

• To monitor sales trends and product ordering to ensure proficient stock control

• To assist Management with stock ordering

• To ensure yourself and department staff are keeping the retail areas of the farm park presentable and free of litter at all times

• Actively promote Adventure Valley Annual Passes, being aware of the key benefits for visitors

• Actively promote the events and services on site, ensuring you are aware of both current and future events taking place on the park

• To train new staff and monitor and review existing department staff

• To handle customer complaints in accordance with company policy

• To undertake any other reasonable request as directed by your line manager

Hours of Work
You will be contracted for 35 hours each week covering 5 over 7 days. However, you must be available to work extra if needed. You will also be required to work weekends, Bank Holidays and school holidays.
